OK, we shouted about it a little bit on social media and picked up some press off the back of our win, however there's a good chance you may have missed the finer details. For prosperity's sake you can find the full press release below, what you won't read in the press release is that we celebrated pretty hard and had a great event at the Beer Engine in Sheffield after the win.

Sheffield is quickly turning into a fun craft beer town and we always look forward to our visits up there, walking away with such outstanding accolades is just a bonus.

Fourpure Scoops Top Award at BeerX

Fourpure claims Business Innovation and Brewery Business of the Year at Society of Independent Brewers’ (SIBA) annual awards

London’s Fourpure Brewing Company has swept through SIBA’s annual business awards picking up two major wins. The independent craft brewer – based in Bermondsey, South London – topped a list of more than 400 entrants to pick up the evening’s most prestigious award of Britain’s Brewery Business of the Year, as well as collecting the Business Innovation prize.

Adrian Lugg, Head of Marketing at Fourpure, commented; “It’s absolutely fantastic to win, we are humbled to receive this award and it feels like confirmation of a job well done after working so hard to grow the business over the last few years. This is a brilliant win for the whole team and we are absolutely over the moon.”

To top off the night of celebrations, Fourpure also received recognition for making it through to the final three for outstanding commercial achievement and best individual design – for its Shape Shifter West Coast IPA can.

Fourpure is a relative newcomer to the increasingly competitive UK beer scene, having been founded in 2013 by brothers Dan and Tom Lowe. It is quickly rising to become one of London’s (and now Britain’s) most exciting and respected breweries.

“In a year when the number and calibre of entries was higher than ever before, Fourpure’s huge commitment to staff training, innovative business strategies and clear commercial vision, hugely impressed the business awards judges. In particular, it was the company’s sensory beer training scheme which the judges felt went above and beyond in ensuring every single member of the Fourpure team is inspired by independent craft beer and working for Fourpure,” said Mike Benner SIBA Managing Director.

It has been a rapid rise and intense journey for the team that has seen it go from an empty warehouse to producing more than 1.2 million litres in little over three years. In 2016 it posted its third consecutive year of triple figure growth; produced 41 unique beers across 30 distinct styles; doubled staffing levels; increased active customer accounts by 50%; rolled out industry leading software and back-office processes; and installed a world-class canning and packing facility that doubles as contract packing, to generate revenue for the business.

With an estimated 1,700 breweries now operating in the most saturated beer market in the world, it’s fair to say the team is happy about the win. Co-founder Dan Lowe was quick to draw attention to all the hard work that happens behind the scenes: “It’s a real team effort around the brewery, I know it’s quite clichéd to say but everybody here gives 110% and really believes in what we’re trying to do. We strive to create a great working environment, inspired by global best practice in all facets of the business. This has helped drive our thinking and innovation and get buy in from the team.”

Having previously picked up awards in 2014 and 2015, this is easily the most prestigious from SIBA, who has been supporting independent brewers and moving the industry forward since its inception in 1980. SIBA was instrumental in campaigning for Progressive Beer Duty which came into place in 2002, and this has helped countless small breweries get off the ground by providing tax relief in those early formative years when volume and sales can put them under the most pressure.

These awards round out a successful 2016 for founder Dan Lowe who was also recognised as Barclays regional winner for Entrepreneur of the Year
