At Fourpure, we’re passionate about lots of things, but right at the top of the list sits our two key tenets; making (and drinking) great beer and a love of travelling, exploring different landscapes, cultures and ways of life.
We have combined these two passions into the most ambitious collaboration project we have ever embarked upon – our Continental Collaboration series. We are brewing 6 collaborative beers with 6 different breweries, one from each major continent. This exciting project will see us create interesting beers, as well as celebrating breweries from around the world.
The third brewery we will be partnering for a collaboration brew is:
When it came to finding the perfect partners for this project, some fell into place more naturally. Despite (or maybe because of) the sheer number of breweries now in production across the world, the global brewing community is incredibly small and tight-knit. It’s easy for us to jump across the pond and hang out with brewers from Europe or North America, and London as a destination means that we’re always welcoming brewers and friends from further afield. South America however is still a relative newcomer to the modern, innovative craft beer movement but they’re not wasting any time in stamping their authority. We met the team at Sunset through our Head of Operations and were immediately impressed by the strength of their range and the quality of their beers. Meeting and working with a brewery like Sunset is what makes a project like this so exciting, their Adventure-driven ethos is just a nice side benefit.
The inspiration for Sunset Brewery came during an extended safari in South Africa, where the founders were inspired by a story told by a local ranger about an elusive black rhino who was admired locally and nicknamed ‘Sunset’. After their adventure in the savannah, and accompanied by some great local craft beers, excited and a little emotional, they decided to take forward the idea of creating a craft brewery in Brazil. Thanks to the inspiring story from the ranger, they instantly decided on the name of the brewery and logo and that the mission of the brewery would always be to always seek improvement and excellence, at the same time as keeping true to their origins to create beers that that will complement unforgettable moments.
For the beer we are brewing with Sunset, we’ve not taken inspiration from the obvious white sandy beaches of Brazil but instead looked inland towards cocoa plantations in the jungle. Nightfall is an Imperial Stout flavoured heavily with roasted cocoa nibs and coconut. This delectable and decadent stout was borne from award winning recipe from the team at Sunset Brewery, and we’re very excited to be brewing it with them.
Nightfall will be available in limited edition 500ml cans and also in a small run of mixed 6-packs containing all of our Continental Collaboration beers, which you can pre-order now on our online shop.
All the beers we brew for this project will also be available on our epic 22 day, 21 city Continental Collaboration Tour – check out the blog here to find a date near you.
