Continental Collaboration | Africa | Devil’s Peak

Here at Fourpure, beer is our passion, and our travels are what inspire us. Exploring the world and meeting people who share an appetite for the things we love, is one of our favourite parts of being in the brewing industry. To celebrate the global community of beer, we are brewing 6 collaborative beers with 6 different breweries, one from each major continent. This exciting project will see us create interesting and boundary-pushing beers, celebrating friendship, innovation and a mutual love of great beer.

Our second brewery partner in our Continental Collaboration series is:

Devil’s Peak

Probably better known for its wine and wildlife, Cape Town has some inspired modern breweries, with the amazing Devil’s Peak leading the charge. Hailing from the beautiful Cape Town in South Africa, Devil’s Peak Brewery came to life in March of 2012, after two years of garage brewing and lots and lots of paperwork.

The brewery is named after one of Cape Town’s famous geological landmarks, and one that is steeped in myth. It wasn’t too long before demand for Devil’s Peak was outstripping supply, so the decision was made to move from their small setup in the suburb of Somerset West to a new production facility closer to Cape Town. Their new space has beautiful views of Devil’s Peak and Table Mountain, providing a spectacular backdrop for creating some innovative and exciting brews.

Devil’s Peak Brewery is at the forefront of innovation in brewing in South Africa, and they push the boundaries of craft beer with their Explorer Series. Devil’s Peak is leading the charge in challenging the conventions of what beer can and should be, and we are incredibly excited to be working alongside them.

With Devil’s Peak Brewery, we will be brewing Coastline, a Gooseberry & Vanilla Dry-Hopped Sour. Gooseberry and fresh vanilla pods create a beer that is lightly sour with sweet notes from the vanilla and balanced fruity tartness. Generous amounts of Citra provide an additional hit of gooseberry, as well as delicate lime and citrus character. An addition of lactose smooths the mouthfeel, creating a complex and interesting beer.

Coastline will be available in limited edition 500ml cans and also in a small run of mixed 6-packs containing all of our Continental Collaboration beers, which you can pre-order now on our online shop.

All the beers we brew for this project will also be available on our epic 22 day, 21 city Continental Collaboration Tour – check out the blog here to find a date near you.
